The nearest railway station is New Jalpaiguri, around 195 kilometers from Lachen. From the station, taxis and buses are available to take you to your destination. If you choose to drive, the journey from Gangtok to Lachen is incredibly scenic and takes about 4 to 5 hours.

The best time to visit Lachen is from March to June when the weather is pleasant, and the flora is in full bloom. If you want to witness the beauty of snowfall, plan your trip between October and February. However, it can get quite chilly during this time, so pack your warmest clothes. It's advisable to avoid the monsoon season (July to September) due to frequent landslides and road blockages.
