From our private jetty about a kilometer upstream, the boat ride over the lake"s gentle swells, past lazy coconut palms and houses, to the resort sets the tone of your holiday to come - exciting and novel, yet relaxed and nurturing! Our stay in Coconut Lagoon was as peaceful as it was pleasant. The resort is beautiful and feels like a cocoon, a bubble where all troubles vanish for the time being. The water canals roaming the garden from every side create an unreal atmosphere. Buildings wear the charm of this Indian woody architecture. The house in which we stayed was comfortable and also charming, although a bit too dark for my taste. Numerous (most of them being free) activities are offered daily to vacationers living in the resort: yoga, clay crafting, cooking lessons, etc. As we only had a full day there and needed a bit of rest as well, we only tried 2 of them, the sunset cruise (panorama was nothing memorable but the ride on the ship was very pleasant) and an early bird watching tour, with a naturist called Prateesh (hoping I am not mangling his name), whose passion and knowledge made this 1 hour something walk truly interesting and insightful. Breakfast offered plenty of various and wonderful food, and a tea time was offered every afternoon. The restaurants have plenty of choices as well. On a side note, going to the resort on this lovely boat (everything is organized by the hotel) is also very appreciated and offers a 10 minutes nice ride through the river. I am not giving this wonderful place a 5 stars because I did find the service was not always worthy of a 5 stars hotel. Prior to arriving, we had much trouble contacting the hotel (we needed some extra information to reach the pier from the railway station we were arriving in), unsuccessfully trying for more than 18h to call them or message them on Booking... Moreover, we did not get to enjoy the pool and its surroundings a lot, because the construction works close to the pool were so noisy it eventually made us leave to isolate in our house. I understand that works need to be conducted in the resort but I do believe a 5 star hotel should offer a compensation to the residents when they are disturbed in such a way (even a free drink or snack would have been appreciated, for example). Don't get me wrong though, the staff is very warm and helpful and this place is definitely worth a try if you are looking for a relaxing time close to Kumarakom.
I recently stayed at Coconut Lagoon, and it was an absolutely wonderful experience. The old heritage rooms were a highlight—well maintained, they offered a perfect blend of history and comfort. The traditional architecture added a unique charm to our stay. The service was top-notch, with staff going above and beyond to ensure we had everything we needed. our stay truly memorable. Had a girl's trip here last week, stayed for 3 nights and absolutely loved it. The lakeside location and beautifully lush green setting was amazing, great food, loads of interesting activities (you MUST go for the Bird Watching Walk with Prateesh....so much fun and very informative) and best of all, the staff were fantastic - helpful, friendly and very accommodating. Highly recommended!
Although the place and rooms were excellent the food was a complete ripoff. In a state (Kerala) where we can get good food for very reasonable rates this was at least 10x more expensive. Definitely not value for money. Going out of the resort to have something more reasonable is also not an option as you would have to wait at least 1hr at the reception before the boat arrives. Service at some of CGH Earth's other properties were excellent so maybe our expectation from Coconut Lagoon was a bit too high. Did not meet our expectations.
Amazing place. Exceptional hospitality by the staff. Great nature around and natural, green and traditional facilities. Food is fresh and great taste. Yoga, meditation and plenty of other activities. A paradise!
